Uncover the full picture of your metabolic health and what to do about it

Blood Sugar

Your blood sugar levels are closely tied to energy, hunger signals, and fat storage in your body. When your blood sugar is chronically too high, it can lead to insulin resistance and metabolic dysfunction, which makes it very challenging to lose weight.

Cholesterol

Testing cholesterol gives you an even deeper look into your metabolic health. If you have high triglycerides paired with high LDL (bad cholesterol) and low HDL (good cholesterol), it’s a sign of metabolic dysfunction.

Thyroid

Your thyroid helps your body set its basal metabolic rate (BMR) and plays a role in your body composition—how much fat vs. muscle you hold onto.

B12 Deficiency

Your body needs vitamin B12 to convert food into energy and help you maintain lean muscle mass. A deficiency in B12 can disrupt your thyroid function and energy, making you feel sluggish.

Get a personalized report breaking down these critical lab markers

Fasting Insulin

This kit is the first and only at-home test that identifies insulin resistance early on and gives you the next steps to get your levels under control.

Fasting Glucose

A fasting glucose test measures the amount of glucose, or sugar, in blood after an overnight fast. While glucose is the body’s main energy source, too much or too little glucose can cause big issues.

% Hemoglobin A1C

A Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c) test evaluates average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. It is used as a screening tool for type 2 diabetes and its precursor, prediabetes.

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) signals the thyroid to make two main hormones that are delivered to the body, T3 and T4. Measuring TSH gives us an idea of your thyroid health.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that our body needs, but does not produce. A vitamin B12 deficiency can make you fatigued and can be a sign of inadequate or improper vitamin absorption.

Triglycerides

When fasting triglycerides are elevated, it can often be a sign that the body is having a difficult time processing carbohydrates and maintaining metabolic health.

HDL Cholesterol

HDL is often called "good" cholesterol because it prevents the buildup of plaque in the arteries. Unlike with triglycerides or LDL, you want your HDL number to be high.

LDL Cholesterol

LDL is often called "bad" cholesterol, because it carries cholesterol to the arteries, potentially leading to plaque build-up. High LDL levels put you at risk for heart disease.

HOMA-IR Score

AKA the Homeostatic Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance. This validated tool determines your risk for insulin resistance, even before it is evident in more traditional screening measures like HbA1C.

Once the lab gets your sample, you’ll get results in 2-5 days!

Your Questions, Answered

What items will I receive in my lab kit?

Your kit includes lancets, alcohol prep pads, gauze pads, bandages, and a sample collection card. It also includes a foil pouch, a specimen bag, and a bubble mailer with prepaid postage to return your sample. You’ll get detailed instructions on how to collect your sample and return it to one of our labs.

Can I purchase this lab kit in every U.S. state and internationally?

Our lab kits are available in every U.S. state except New York. They are not currently available internationally. If you’d like to be notified when our lab kit becomes available in your area, please let us know at support@getsowell.com.

Am I eligible to purchase an at-home lab kit?

If you are over the age of 18 and located in the United States (with the exception of New York), you are eligible to purchase our kits.

Are the lab kits covered by my insurance company?

Unfortunately, most insurance companies do not cover at-home blood testing. However, we encourage you to check with your individual health insurance carrier.

You are able to use your HSA/FSA funds to buy the kit.

Why do I need to register my lab kit?

You must register your lab kit in order to receive your results and gain access to your portal account. Be sure to register your kit before you mail in your sample to prevent any delays or issues with your results.

Can I purchase at lab kit if I have a known health condition?

Yes! Our at-home lab kits can help you gain insights into a previously diagnosed condition. They also help you track and trend your own health data, so you can see improvements over time. However, we recommend reviewing the results with your doctors before making any changes in your day-to-day care.

How often should I test my labs?

We recommend taking a look at your lab work quarterly or at least twice a year. This will help you to stay up to date with your metabolic health journey and track improvements as you make health and lifestyle changes. We want to be your partner and help you gain health from the inside out.

When can I take my sample?

Samples must be collected on an empty stomach before 10 AM. Please make sure you have not consumed any food or drink (with the exception of water) within 10 hours of taking your sample. This is an important step to make sure we can get accurate results.

Does taking the blood sample hurt?

Our lab kits only require a finger prick—you’ll just feel a quick pinch. You may notice some bruising and soreness after taking your sample, but don’t worry! This is normal and will go away within a few days.

What do I do if I fail to fill up the entire blood sample card?

If your blood collection does not pass the designated line, our lab can not analyze your sample. In the case you fail to fill up the card with one finger prick, use the extra lancet provided to prick another finger on your non-dominant hand. It may take a few minutes to get enough blood. Try massaging from the base to the tip of the finger with your other hand to produce more blood flow.

How long do I have to send in my sample?

It is important to mail your sample to our lab on the same day as collection to ensure proper processing.

Will my kit expire?

Once you have received your kit, you have 6 months to register it in our portal.

How do I send my sample to the lab?

Simply follow the instructions included with your kit. Include your completed test in the provided prepaid shipping envelope and drop it off at a mailbox. We’ll take care of the rest!

How long will it take to get my results?

After the lab has received your sample, your results will be available online within 7 business days.

What happens after I send my sample to your labs?

You will receive an email notification when your lab results have been uploaded into your SoWell Health portal. In the portal you’ll get an in-depth interpretation of your lab results through a specialized metabolic health lens. You’ll also gain access to exclusive video content and other resources to help you take the next step in your health journey.

What happens if my lab results come back with an error message?

Although it’s rare, this can happen. Please email us at support@getsowell.com and we will ship you another kit.

Is my personal information safe?

We recognize the importance of protecting your personal information; protecting both your privacy and safety is our highest priority!

We have taken thoughtful steps to ensure the highest degree of protection. We are HIPAA compliant and use encryption on your data to make sure it is secure.

    Insightful

I had a feeling something was off with my levels because of the way I was feeling and how hard it’s been to lose weight. The cool thing is they don’t just give you the numbers but there is an explanation under every thing that’s tested. It was processed very quickly after they received it which I appreciated as well.

I like the practice and versatility of doing my test at home, but I'm worried about the accuracy. I keep track of my glucose, and on the day of the test, using the exact same drop of blood in my test at home I get 110mg/dl but on my results I get 70mg/dl, it's a 36% lower. With my wife, the difference was big too, 98mg/dl at home and 61 in the biology kit.

The process was not difficult and was relatively fast. The issue is knowing what to do with the information.
